University of Sydney offers PhD Scholarship in the field of Humanities & Social Sciences, Electoral Integrity for Australian citizens, The five-year Electoral Integrity Project, which starts in mid-2012, is based at the Department of Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

It has been nicely reinforced by the Australia Research Authorities Laureate Prize, as well as by funds from the School of Quotes, Worldwide IDEA, and at Stanford School by the Ash Middle for Democratic Government and Advancement, the Stanford Panel on Australia Research, and the Weatherhead Middle for Worldwide Matters.

These positions will form part of a team conducting research for the electoral integrity project, working under the supervision of the Project Director and the Project Manager; The successful applicants will be expected to undertake their thesis within the scope of the project and to assist in data collection tasks that will also form the basis of their own thesis; Fulfilling the requirements for the PhD degree at the University of Sydney, including writing a thesis research topic of 70,000-100,000 words on an approved topic derived from the project, under the supervision of a graduate committee consisting of the Project Director, Project Manager and one other academic adviser.

Eligibility:
-A first class honors bachelor degree from an Australian University or a Masters degree or equivalent) in Political Science or a relevant related field is required
-Familiarity with use of standard statistical packages
-Research interests in the study of comparative politics
-Strong research motivation, analytical and communication skills, oral, statistical, and written
-Ability to set priorities, work flexibly under pressure, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
-Capacity for personal independence, initiative and creativity
-Ability to collaborate in teams
-Willingness to travel internationally and work in a multicultural context
-Excellent English is essential
-Some knowledge of other languages is highly desirable
-Skills in editing, writing and research.
