Canadian and International Students PhD Scholarship for Canadian and International Students in Social sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Engineering, and Health at Canadian Universities.The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) was created to entice and maintain world-class doctorate learners and to identify North america as a global center of quality in research and higher learning. It is worth $50,000 per year for three years and is available to both North america and worldwide PhD learners learning at North america colleges.

Eligibility:
Both Canada and worldwide learners are qualified to be selected for a Vanier CGS.
To be regarded for a Vanier CGS, you must:
-be selected by only one Canada school, which must have obtained a Vanier CGS allocation; be looking for economical assistance to engage in your first doctorate stage (or mixed MA/PhD or MD/PhD);
-intend to engage in, in the summertime season term or the educational season following the statement of outcomes, full-time doctorate (or mixed MA/PhD or MD/PhD) analysis and analysis at the nominating university;
-have finished no more than 20 several weeks of doctorate analysis as of May 1, 2012 (see Notices below)
- have obtained a first-class regular, as established by your school, in each of the last two decades of full-time analysis or equivalent;
-and not have already obtained a doctoral-level scholarships or fellowship from CIHR, SSHRC or NSERC to perform or finish a doctorate stage (or mixed MA/PhD or MD/PhD).

University of North South Wales Philosophy Scholarship Study at Australia

Scholarship at University of North South Wales Deadline 6 July 2012, MPhil Scholarship in Social Sciences for Domestic & International Students at the School of Social Sciences, University of North South Wales, By 2036, Sydney’s population is expected to reach 6 million, an increase of 1.7 million since the 2006 ABS Census. This means Sydney will need to provide 770,000 more homes than in 2006. Much of this development will be suburban infill and redevelopment at higher density leading to potential losses of green space. 

The twin trends work against the well-documented positive impacts that green spaces and especially trees can have on the sustainability performance of suburban areas. Trees and green spaces can reduce the need for storm water provision, prevent floods and save on air conditioning, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and improve biodiversity. 

Since more than 80% of Australia’s population lives in urban areas which will be affected by climate change and peak oil, there is an urgent need to understand the barriers that exist to further planting of trees in suburban areas. While a great deal of research exists internationally on urban forests, little work has been undertaken that is appropriate to Australian conditions, which include soils with a uniquely low nitrogen content and the frequent drought conditions to which Australian flora is subjected.

Scholarship at Harvard-Yenching Institute September 30, 2012, Harvard-Yenching Institute offers Visiting Fellows Program for researchers in Humanities and Social sciences at Harvard University, This program provides advanced PhD candidates (graduate students and junior faculty members) in your institution an opportunity to conduct dissertation research at Harvard University for three semesters, with access to Harvard University libraries and facilities.

Fellows are also affiliated with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Harvard University, and provided with living expenses while at the Institute. All applicants and university/academy administrators will be notified of selection results in mid-February, 2012. In our selection process, preference is given to advanced graduate students and junior faculty members working in East Asian Studies, especially with a comparative focus. The selection criteria include academic training, quality and originality of the research proposal, depth of subject knowledge and feasibility of conducting the research at Harvard University.
