Scholarship April 2013 The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) is inviting application for special overseas postgraduate scholarship programme. The scholarship is open to Nigerians in UK, Netherlands, China, India, USA and Canada at different universities. Student must be a graduate of a recognized university with not less than second class upper honour’s degree (2:1) at the undergraduate level. The application deadline is May 24, 2013.
Study Subject(s):
Medical Sciences (Biomedical Engineering/Technology, Medical Statistics, Plaster Technology, Dental Technology, Dental Therapy, Renal Technology, Medical Imaging Technology and Anaesthetic Technology) and Town, Urban & Regional Planning are offered to study in UK, USA and Canada. The students can study Medical Sciences at selected Indian universities. Agricultural Engineering is offered to study in Netherlands and China.

The scholarships are available for pursuing postgraduate (master’s and PhD) programme in UK (Cambridge University, Kings College, London, University of Nottingham, University of Edinburgh, University of Birmingham, University College, London, Loughborough University, Oxford Brookes University and University of Liverpool), Netherlands (Wageningen University), China (China Agricultural University and Nanjing University), India (Jawaharial Nehru University, University College Medical School, Delhi, St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore and Medical College, Pune Maharastra), USA(Harvard University, John Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Stanford University, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, University of South Carolina, Cornell University and Rutgers University)and Canada (University of Alberta, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, University of Manitoba, McGill University, Concordia University, Queen’s University and Simon Fraser University).

Eligibility:
-Must be of Rivers State Origin (Should submit a copy of LGA identification)
-Must be a Graduate of a recognised University with not less than Second Class Upper honour’s degree (2:1) at the undergraduate level
-Must not be below 21 years or above 35 years old. (Confirmation of age required, preferably by birth certificate)
-Must have completed NYSC
-Must have gained admission into any of the listed universities in the relevant field of specialization for the Masters programmes
-PhD candidates must have a Masters degree(not below Merit)and a good Bachelors degree (not below Second Class Upper).
Scholarship Open for : The students of Nigeria can apply for the scholarships.
Number of award(s): Target is to send 300 students overseas annually.

Selection Criteria:
Minimum of 5 credits including English Language and Mathematics in the WASCE/GCE. NECO not accepted.
Not above the age of 21years. (evidence – birth certificate)
Be a Rivers State indigene – (evidence LGA Letter of Identification)
The Agency has a provision for the physically challenged. Annually they estimated for about 10 students.
Aptitude Test and Interview:
-Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for online aptitude test through SMS, emails and notice posted on RSSDA website.
Original copies of credentials will be sighted during the interview of shortlisted candidates.
