Evolutionary Computation at University of Birmingham Research Fellowship

Research Fellowship in Evolutionary Computation at the School of Computer Science in University of Birmingham, To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a range of activities within and related to EPSRC-funded project on “Evolutionary Computation for Dynamic Optimisation in Network Environments. 

The responsibilities may include some but not all of the responsibilities outlined below. To develop a detailed research plan that implements the EPSRC project, with assistance of the principal investigator if required

-To carry out high-quality research, both theoretical and computational, within the EPSRC project on “Evolutionary Computation for Dynamic Optimisation in Network Environments”
-To contribute to writing further bids for research funding
-To analyse and interpret data from the computational studies
-To apply knowledge in a way which develops new intellectual understanding
-To write and disseminate research findings for publication in leading international journals and conference, research seminars etc .

What it Covers: Starting salary is normally in the range £27,578 to £35,938, with potential progression once in post to £38,140 a year.

Eligibility:
• PhD in Computer Science/Engineering with expertise in evolutionary computation
• Outstanding ability in both theoretical analysis and computational studies, related to evolutionary computation
• Excellent Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, complex information clearly
• Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and outstanding ability to contribute to developing new ones
• Excellent Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively
• Outstanding research achievements, evidenced by publications, PhD thesis or other reviewed/examined materials.

Scholarship Research Council Postgraduate Arts and Humanities

University of Birmingham offers Scholarships for Postgraduate UK/EU/International Students, Under the Block Grant Partnership, the AHRC have specified the number, and type of awards available from the University of Birmingham for each academic year. The 2013-2014 spread of available awards, alongside an explanation of the type of awards can be found below.

Value of Awards : A full award includes full payment of your course fees and a stipend payment, which is currently £13590 a year. You will also have access to apply for funding from the AHRC Research Training Support Grant to support study visits and overseas conference attendance. Your award will be for three years.
