The WWF Prince Bernhard Scholarships (PBS) are awarded to individuals from East and South who wish to pursue formal studies or professional training in the field of conservation, The WWF Prince Bernhard Scholarships (PBS) are awarded to individuals from East and South who wish to pursue formal studies or professional training in the field of conservation.

Under the patronage of the late HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and to pay a lasting tribute to the Founder President of WWF and The 1001: A Nature Trust, the Prince Bernhard Scholarship Fund for Nature Conservation was created in 1991 to help build conservation expertise and leadership in the developing world. 

With the generous support of The 1001: A Nature Trust, the aim of the WWF Prince Bernhard Scholarships is to provide financial support to individuals who wish to pursue short-term professional training or formal studies that will help them contribute more effectively to conservation efforts in their country. Each scholarship empowers a dedicated conservationist to build his or her capacity. In turn, these people are in a position to share the benefits of their knowledge and skills with others and so spread the benefits.

Amounts Awarded: The maximum amount for any one scholarship under this scheme is CHF 10,000, and preferential consideration is given to requests for less than CHF 10,000.

Eligibility:
-As a priority, the PBS support mid-career training (up to a maximum of one year) for individuals working in the field of conservation or associated disciplines directly relevant to the delivery and promotion of conservation. Applications from candidates doing multiple-year studies will only be considered if the applicant is applying for support for the last year of studies
-Applications are encouraged from people seeking to build skills in specific subjects that will enhance their contribution to nature conservation. In particular, women and people working for non-governmental or community-based organizations are encouraged to apply
-Only nationals from Africa/Madagascar, Asia/Pacific, Latin America & Carribean, Eastern Europe & Middle East will be considered, including WWF staff or candidates working as partners with WWF. Preference is given to those who seek support for studies in their country or region and provide proof that they are also seeking funding from other sources. Applicants must provide written proof of acceptance on a course.

IRP/IFP Postdoctoral Fellowship for International Young Scientists

IRP Foundation funded Postdoctoral Fellowship for International Young Scientists in Spinal Cord Injury and Neuroregeneration, In order to promote basic and clinical research related to spinal cord injury and neuroregeneration, the IRP Foundation provides fellowships to young scientists who are either:From Switzerland and who want to join an outstanding laboratory or clinic abroad, or

from abroad and who wish to work in Switzerland.

Eligibility:
Fellowships is for young scientists who are either:
-From Switzerland and who want to join an outstanding laboratory or clinic abroad, or
-From abroad and who wish to work in Switzerland.

Regulations:
Subsidies are of the following types:
1. A fellowship for up to 2 years in an outstanding basic research laboratory specialised in one or several aspects of CNS and spinal cord lesions and repair, preferentially in mammals. A 3rd year may be attributed to a fellow who returns to Switzerland from abroad.
2. A 1 year fellowship in a clinical research laboratory situated in the fields of diagnosis and acute lesion management of spinal cord injury, including surgery, neurology, urology, rehabilitation, and other areas related to paraplegia.

Review of application:
Applications will be screened by the IRP/IFP Scientific Committee and evaluated on the following criteria:

Exercising prospective of the fellowship and prospective of the laboratory’s place of analysis Achievements of the candidate Quality of the coordinator laboratory/endorsement by the coordinator University Scientific appearance and excellent of the proposal Information given by the selection regarding his/her inspiration and goals.

What it Covers: Allowances Living allowance: 70’000.
- CHF/year Research and travel allowance: up to 9’000.
- CHF/year Family support and child allowances can be paid depending on the fellow’s situation.
-Laboratory financial backing to be discussed on a per case basis.

IPCC Scholarship Programme for Developing Countries Students study at Switzerland

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) offers scholarship for PhD students from developing countries in the fields of Socio-economic modeling related to climate change, Underlying science of climate change or Climate change and water.

The aim of the IPCC Grants Program is to build capacity in the understanding and management of global warming in creating nations through providing opportunities for young researchers from creating nations to undertake studies that would not be possible without the involvement of the Finance. Programs from learners from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) researching topics with the areas of study chosen for the call for applications are given priority.

Scholarships for Bachelor and Master Students ETH Zurich offers Bachelor and Master Application Deadline 30/June/2012, Scholarships for Swiss citizens or holders of a B permit and Non-Swiss with a B permit,International students resident in Switzerland (Type B residence permit) should primarily exhaust all avenues for possible funding in their country of origin. ETH funding is intended to complement other funding sources, i.e., any funding granted from ETH will only cover a quarter of your study and living costs in Zurich. Hence, it is important for you to secure a scholarship from another source that covers the remaining amount of the costs incurred.

Open for International Students: Swiss citizens or holders of a B permit and Non-Swiss with a B permit

Eligibility:
-Bachelor and Master students, who are Swiss citizens or holders of a B permit, must concurrently apply to their residence canton for a cantonal scholarship. (Swiss citizens from abroad should apply to their home canton; refugees must apply to their asylum canton).
-Non-Swiss Bachelor and Master students with a B permit should clarify whether they can obtain a scholarship from their country of origin, since ETH Zurich cannot support non-Swiss students with a full scholarship. Non-Swiss .
-Bachelor students can apply for an ETH scholarship after having passed the first-year exams. Non-Swiss Master students following an ETH Master programme can apply after having successfully completed the second semester.
-ETH scholarships are usually only granted as a secondary source of finance.
